Just returned from 8 day stay. View - phenominal. All I could say when we arrived was, " Wow!" I think I said it three times. You are perched on a hill overlooking the Caribbean down below and St. Kitts a few miles away. The sun sets to your left - gorgeous. We slept to the sound of surf down below - ohh, sooo soothing!
Pelican was just perfect - 2 bedrooms, 2 private baths with showers, and a wide open combination kitchen, dining, and living room and a porch looking over the spectacular view. Pelicans would fly by at arm's length every evening between 5 and 6. We had our own, private, swimming pool - perfect for swimming au natural if one so wished. Pelican was perfect. Nevis is a lush island with a mountain and rain forest in the center. For 35 or so square miles, there is an abundance of great places to eat. All of the old plantation houses we tried were just perfect, especially Montpelier. We had lunch at Golden Rock one day and it was delicious. We also had a great meal at Nisbet one evening. Suggestion - do not have more than one Killer Bee at Sunshines before going to Nisbet for their buffet with drinks beforehand. We also went to Miss June's one night. All of the guidebooks will tell you not to miss this and they are soo right. Make reservations as soon as you get to Nevis. For a special, unexpected (from the outside) treat, go to La Cha Del, just a mile or so from Hurricane Cove. The food is West Indian and simply delicious, the waitress is oh so cute, and the bartender makes a great rum punch - what's not to like? Oh, and after a little searching, we found The Perfect Beach. However, we'll keep that to ourselves.... We'll be back. |
